By deftly weaving stories of transness and a religious upbringing through Appalachian picking patterns and working class themes, they're able to unite the most unlikely of audiences together by the time the lights cut out. In addition to being a musician, Carter is also a fiction writer and educator, and this triad of practices helps him ask better questions to learn better lessons.
