Join Creekbed Carter and Jammy Violet for performances and a music video viewing party in celebration of the release of Carter’s newest single, “Apiary”

Come party with us at legendary Austin community film space We Luv Video for a night of performances and a public viewing of a music video for Creekbed Carter’s new song “Apiary,” drawn and animated by Jammy Violet! Carter will play songs alongside folk heroes Little Mazarn, Jammy will be playing a rare stripped-down set, and you can enjoy it all from the cozy plush seats in We Luv Video’s viewing room. The night will also be supported by Clear the Air ATX, which means we’ll have HEPA air filters purifying the air and making everything a little safer. Masks optional. Tickets will be $8 online, $10 at the door. VERY limited seating, so make sure you get your ticket early!

Details:

When: Tuesday Feb. 20, Doors at 7:30pm, Music at 8:00pm

Where: We Luv Video, 100 E. North Loop Blvd, Austin, TX

Accessibility: The viewing room has 25 movie theater seats that are situated on risers. The seats have armrests, and there will also be folding chairs available. There is one step up into the We Luv Video store; everything in the store is on the same level. There are bathrooms that are available to the public.

We’ll be running 2 small Levoit Core HEPA air purifiers (450 sq ft capacity) all night to help reduce spread of COVID. Masks will be available at the door, and encouraged (but not required). Music will start at 8pm and run for about 1 hour, followed by a viewing of the 7-min music video. Folks can hang out after until 10:00pm, when we’ll probably move festivities to either Workhorse or another bar nearby.

Parking can be a little tricky, so make sure to come a little early if you’re like me and stressed about it.

Meet all the friends involved

Jammy Violet is the lead singer of Pelvis Wrestley, a pop-Americana band based in Austin, and an illustrator in their own right who specializes in lush, surreal animations. They partnered with me to make the beautiful stop-motion animated film that is the music video for “Apiary” (see the stills below). They also illustrated my album cover, and they’re an incredible songwriter who I am so, so grateful to even have in my life, much less be sharing a night of music with!!

Little Mazarn is a legendary haunted folk duo that combines the startling poetry of Lindsey Verrill (banjo) with the wild, uncontainable compositions of Jeff Johnston (saw, harmonium, bells, et al). They played on a bunch of songs on my forthcoming album, and they’ve been my favorite band in Austin since 2011. I’m deeply honored that they’ll be here this night with me. I will probably cry!!

We Luv Video is a non-profit video rental library and community film space that rose from the ashes of I ❤️ Video, which used to be located on Airport. I ❤️ Video used to host things like Free Beer Tuesdays and had incredible, detailed collections of VHS and DVDs organized by director, by cult status, by Criterion Channel pick, and they boasted the best horror collection I’ve seen in a minute. When I ❤️ Video had to close due to rising rent, We Luv Video took up the mantle and formed out of a Kickstarter. It’s volunteer-run, and they truly stepped in to help me plan this event. I cherish them forever!!

Clear the Air ATX is a Kickstarter-backed initiative that aims to create access to cleaner air for artists, musicians, and organizers in the Austin area. You can rent HEPA air filters from them for free for any event! Check em out here!!
